Was great nice and easy, border crossing was fast and there were not many people on the bus so it was peaceful, only thing I could think of that wasn’t good is we only actually stopped once for the bathroom not including the border stop
We left on time and unexpectedly there was lunch included, which was great (some meat with rice and fried egg).
I did take the bus which left Phenom Penh at 10:30 am. I can not necessarily recommend this time as we arrived in Ho Chi Minh City when there was the worst traffic as everyone was driving home from work. Other than that, the ride was okay, they will take your passport for border crossing and you will have to walk across Cambodia Exit and Vietnam Entry.
The driver honks a lot but I guess this is just how they do it here to let people know that they pass by. Would book this trip again!
Voyage interminable.
Giant ibis is usually comfortable and service oriented. Bordercrossing into vietnam a breeze: while we had lunch , they processed the passports. Easy as.
This bus however had aircon issues.
First, only a few seats have the charger working. Secondly departure is 20 mins late at least. The whole journey was more than 8 hours instead of 65 hours. There was a change of bus at the border (due to lack of papers of Giant ibis bus to enter) but the bus on Vietnam side was of lower quality.
The bus was clean comfortable they give you water and snacks. At the beginning of the trip they tell you haw many stops you have to go to the bathroom. The steward was very friendly
Bus was very comfortable, we were provided water and snacks. The english speaking guide talked and helpes us through the whole boarder crossing with ease and made it completely stress free. They do take your passport but this is to speed up the process. We did arrive a bit late but this was due to large queues at the boarder which was out of their control.
We left 30 minutes late which at first wasn't a big deal but ended up arriving over 4 hours late. The staff were super friendly and helpful though so no complaints there. When I booked the ticket it said we would receive snacks and food. We ended up having to buy our own food at the border crossing and the snack was a very tiny croissant.
The bus got me to the right city but I would not recommend taking this company. It is certainly a doable option if you have everything lined up, your visa, your ticket, your luggage, but if you expect to need help or be stressed out by a confusing border crossing process, do yourself a favour an pay more money for another company. The border crossing process was as follows, they take your passport from you at the beginning of the ride (not sure why) and give them back just before the border crossing. Then they had us get off the bus and hand them to another man, walk forward a ways before getting back on the vehicle. We sat in the bus for a few minutes again before getting off once more, this time they were taking our stuff out of the bottom of the bus so we figured we should collect it (you don't need to take your stuff from your seat... turns out you'll be back later). We brought our luggage through the border control room. People with e-visas had to pay attention to when their passport was held up, when the man held it up he would tell you to walk forward, this means past the passport stamper and to the luggage scanner, somehow the bus company had it stamped without my being present. You'll likely need to have it looked over one last time before leaving the building.
In general there was no guidance or help from the company, the staff do not really speak english, and when they do they were usually yelling the same incomprehensible word over and over again. Be patient, flexible, and don't get butt hurt if you are yelled at and you'll be ok.
If you’re worried about getting messed around, then just go with IBIS, we’ve always used them and have always had professional service where they actually care about their passengers. Will continue to use them in the future.
